| The conference was held on the
12th-13th, and 14th of OCT. here in Sarnia. It was the 27th Annual Michigan
Council of the Blind. They decided to hold it in Canada this year and make
it an international event. This
was the first time this was done, as we all know there are more white-caners coming on the air daily -----well yearly anyway! Cliff VE3CLI came up with the idea to set up a amatuer radio station in the hotel to commemorate the event, many of the white-caner hams volunteered to operate the station. Here are just a few of the hams that operated the special event station , VA3CYT Clayton----VA3LWM Len----VA3DOL Donna-----VA3BEC Barbaree----VA3DXB Darcy---& VA3JET Jerry. Cliff is a big supporter of getting white-caner's involed on ham radio, he knows its a great way to keep in touch with friends--as we all know a lot cheaper then the telephone, so this was a good opportunity to show other white-caners the pleasures of the hobby , demonstrating, answering questions--etc. In attendance was WA8JXG Michael, and WD8OEP Harry ---aka Trippy from Michigan. Everyone had a great time working VE3SWC, from start to finish we had several hundred checkin's, not to shabby I don't think from all over including the U.S.A. We would like to also extend our thanks to the regular net controller's on the Trans-Provincal Net who gave up the time slots to allow VA3SWC to act as special event net control as well as the many net contollers that steered ham's to our freq. for extra checkin's. Thanks are also extended to all those who assisted in relays. Hopefully we got some people interested in this great hobby, I know there were a few there that were thinking about it very seriously as well as others who were very suprised to see white-caners doing this sort of thing. was just operate it. Whenever a white-caner needs help in the Sarnia area

AMATUER RADIO CLUB
VE3SWC will be on the air from
time to time talking to whomever wants to talk to us. Hopefully more white-caner's
will get into this hobby now that more know how much fun there is in amatuer
radio.
